Cancer In General:
Cancer is one of the most deeply intuitive and sentimental. They are very emotional beings, and care deeply about home and family matters. Cancer is sympathetic and very deeply attached to their loved ones. Being ruled by the moon, the different phases of the lunar cycle can deepen their internal mysteries and create fleeting emotional patterns that is beyond their control. Lack of patience will manifest through mood swings, self pity, and even selfishness later in life. Taking care of others and being taken care of is very important to Cancer. They want to make their loved ones feel loved and secure, and they expect the same in return. They have a fine intuition and are very receptive to the moods or feelings of those who surround them, which can also cause them to be moody. Their need for emotional contact can lead them to unintentionally manipulate other people, and because of their strong emotional nature they are sometimes in danger of rejecting all appeals to reason, only allowing their feelings to guide their actions. They often build a thick emotional shell so they can hide and protect their vulnerable core from being hurt or completely at the mercy of others.
Cancer Man:
The Cancer man is usually tied in one way or another in love or in hate (often in both) to his mother. He can either embody Mother himself and express a wealth of empathy and protectiveness, or he can spend his whole life looking for a Mother. Cancer is a sign of deep emotional needs, and he does not like to stand alone. He often eternally searches for a nurturing protecting partner, who will always forgive and understand him- especially if he didn't have that in his childhood. Buried deep inside his mind is the myth of being a hero. How can a hero run back to mom for comfort and understanding? The mother-son bond is one of the most difficult things that the Cancer man must contend with in his life. Cancer men often marry young in life, that is if he isn't a secret Mother- Hater. The Mother-Haters usually marry later in life, if at all. They are afraid of women and avoid commitment. But this is a distorted kind of Cancer, a Cancer on the run from his own emotional dependency. Their are a lot of crabs running around with extra hard shells, never letting you or himself see the vulnerable, imaginative person underneath. So if you probe- he snaps at you. He can make one of the most loving fathers, as long as he's not jealous with the mothering his child receives. The Cancer man appreciates a strong partner, as long as "strong" doesn't mean you don't need him. The Cancer man needs his partner to need him, just like he needs her. His moods and anxieties need to be understood by his partner, although you're not required to tolerate them, they just need to feel understood. It is very hard for this emotional, introverted, cranky man to be entirely secure being himself, so he wears his camouflage. His camouflage is usually pretending to be the jolly extrovert, but don't be fooled by this because its just a mood. The Cancer man is never an easy partner, as he is too complex. He can be evasive and indirect. The deeper the problem, the less likely you will hear about it. Which can lead to a deep confusion in his most personal relationships. Even when he's wearing that extroverted mask and pretends to be clear headed and logical; he is elusive and mysterious, so you will never really get to the bottom of his secretive soul. But most of all, the Cancer man has an incredible depth and array of feeling and he is deeply alive. Tough guy tactics don't go well with Cancers tenderness and subtle form of strength, so be prepared for a partner who is able to be helpless and vulnerable as he is to be protective and tenacious. Who wants a tough-guy anyways?
Cancer Woman:
The Cancer Woman's strongest urge is the urge for security, and for a Cancer that usually means clinging to the past. Cancer women hold on to things/people that have deep meaning for them, which could be a old house, memories, childhood, ex lovers, etc. Cancer is the traditional sign of Family, she is the mother of the zodiac. Love has a lot to do with security, affection, kindness and sympathy. Most of all love has a lot to do with mother. If cancer becomes deeply involved, then mother enters the scene. Show your pain, weaknesses, and vulnerable side to the Cancer woman, and you will win her heart. Show too much strength and independence, things might not work out so well. Cancer is an emotional woman, but don't always expect her to want to talk about things. If you are involved with Cancer, its a good idea to learn how to read moods/energy. When she mopes around this means she is feeling rejected. Crabbiness means she's feeling unappreciated. An explosion of delightful wacky humor, means she is feeling happy and loved. Cancer Child:
The Cancer child is ruled by the forever changing Moon & Mood! ha! It should be expected that the Cancer child can change moods in an instant, one minute happy as ever. The next he/she could be mad just as fast. As an infant, the Cancer baby may cry more than other signs of the zodiac. Cancer baby's/children should most definitely love bath time (being that she is a water sign). Signing up for swimming classes is sure to be a success. Cancer children are very attached to family/home life, and he/she could very well be a mama's girl/boy. Cancer child can have a hard time adjusting to new people/places outside of their own family or comfort zone. Take extra care when dropping him/her off to a new daycare or babysitter as it could be hard detaching the crabs claw from your leg. They are extremely caring and nurturing, even as small children. Little crabs often take very good care of dolls/stuffed animals/favorite toys and family pets. The cancer baby/child can be extremely sensitive to mom/dad's mood as they can intuitively feel their energy. Being a natural born care giver, the cancer child will almost always aim to cheer you up if they sense you are upset. The Cancer child is very protective over his/her most prized possessions/favorite toys, so he/she may fight in a bid to protect their treasure and risk having someone else spoil/break something they hold so close to them.
